Step-by-Step Guide to Apply for FSSAI License

For Basic FSSAI Registration:

  • Passport-size photograph of the applicant.
  • Address proof (e.g., Aadhaar card, voter ID).
  • Business details (nature of food business).

For State/Central FSSAI License:

  • Passport-size photo of the business owner.
  • Proof of identity (e.g., Aadhaar card, passport).
  • Address proof (e.g., electricity bill, rent agreement).
  • Business incorporation certificate or registration.
  • List of food products to be manufactured, processed, or sold.
  • Layout of the facility (for manufacturing units).
  • Water test report (if applicable).
  • Partnership deed or Certificate of Incorporation (if a company).
  • FSSAI Declaration Form.
  • Import/Export Code (IEC) for Central License (if applicable).
  1. Select the ‘Sign-up (For Self-Care Portal)’ option to register.
  2. Enter your personal details, create a username and password, and confirm your account through the email verification process.

Once you’re registered and logged in, follow these steps:

    1. Select your business type: Based on whether you are applying for a basic, state, or central license.

    2. Fill in the Form A or Form B:

      • Form A: For Basic FSSAI Registration.
      • Form B: For State or Central FSSAI License.

      You will need to provide the following details:

      • Name of the business and address.
      • Nature of the business (e.g., manufacturer, distributor, transporter, etc.).
      • Products or services you offer.
      • Estimated annual turnover.
      • Details of food business operators or partners.
      • Contact details (phone number and email).
    3. Upload the Required Documents (discussed below).

Once you’ve filled out the form and uploaded the documents, you will need to pay the applicable fee, which varies depending on the type of license.

    • Basic FSSAI Registration: ₹100 per year.
    • State FSSAI License: ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 per year, depending on the type of business.
    • Central FSSAI License: ₹7,500 per year.

After completing the form and making the payment, submit the application online. You will receive a unique application reference number to track the status of your application.

For certain businesses, the FSSAI authorities may conduct an inspection of your premises to verify compliance with food safety standards. They will notify you if an inspection is required.

Once your application is approved, you can download your FSSAI license/registration certificate from the FSSAI portal. This process typically takes 30 to 60 days.
