Digital Signature for IEC and AD Code
Class 3 and DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) digital signatures are specific types of digital signatures used in India for various purposes, including filing documents and transactions with the government.
Here’s a detailed guide on how to obtain and use these digital signatures:
Step 1: Choose the Type of Digital Signature Certificate
There are different classes of DSCs based on their usage:
Class 1 DSC: For securing email communication.
Class 2 DSC: For filing documents with government agencies like the Registrar of Companies (ROC).
Class 3 DSC: For e-tendering, e-commerce, and other high-level secure online transactions.
Step 2: Select a Certifying Authority (CA)
Choose an authorized Certifying Authority (CA) such as eMudhra, Sify, or NIC, among others, to issue the DSC.
Step 3: Download the DSC Application Form
Visit the website of the chosen CA and download the DSC application form. Most CAs provide forms for both individual and organizational applicants.
Step 4: Fill Out the Application Form
Complete the application form with accurate details.
For individuals: You need to provide personal details like name, address, email, and PAN number.
For organizations: Include the organization’s details and the applicant’s personal information.
Step 5: Attach Required Documents
Proof of Identity: Passport, PAN card, or driving license.
Proof of Address: Aadhaar card, utility bill, or bank statement.
Passport-sized Photograph: Recent photograph as per the guidelines.
For Organizations: Authorization letter from the organization.
Step 6: Submit the Application
Submit the completed application form along with the required documents to the CA. This can usually be done online or via courier.
Step 7: Complete the Payment Process
Pay the application fee, which varies depending on the type of DSC and the validity period (usually 1-3 years).
Step 8: Verification Process
The CA will verify the submitted documents. This might involve an online video verification process or physical verification, depending on the CA.
Step 9: Download and Install the DSC
Once the application is approved, you will receive a link to download the DSC.
Install the DSC on your computer or USB token (e-Token). Make sure to follow the instructions provided by the CA.
Step 10: Use the DSC
You can now use your DSC to sign documents, file taxes, participate in e-tendering, or perform other secure online transactions.
