Step-by-Step Guide to Apply for IEC Code
Before starting the application process, ensure you have the following documents ready:
- PAN Card of the individual or business entity.
- Identity Proof: Aadhaar Card, Passport, or Voter ID (for individuals).
- Address Proof: Electricity bill, Lease Agreement, Rent Deed, or Sale Deed (not older than three months).
- Bank Certificate or a Cancelled Cheque bearing the applicant’s name.
- Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) if the application is being made by a company or LLP.
- Visit the DGFT website: DGFT Portal
- Click on the “Register” option and fill in the required details to create a login ID and password.
- Log in to the DGFT portal using the credentials you created.
- Under the “Services” tab, select “IEC Profile Management” and click on “Apply for IEC”.
- Applicant Details: Fill in details like the applicant’s name, address, PAN, and date of birth/incorporation.
- Firm Details: Provide information about the business entity including business name, type of business, and contact details.
- Bank Account Details: Enter the bank account number, bank name, branch, and IFSC code.
- Document Upload: Upload the required documents (PAN, address proof, bank certificate/cancelled cheque, and digital signature if applicable).
- After filling out the application form and uploading the documents, proceed to pay the application fee (INR 500).
- The payment can be made online via net banking, credit/debit card, or other available methods.
- After payment, review the application to ensure all details are correct.
- Submit the application. You will receive an acknowledgment with a reference number.
- The DGFT will process the application and, if all details are in order, will issue the IEC code.
- The IEC certificate will be sent to your registered email address and will also be available for download from the DGFT portal.
